🟦 Weekend School Internship (long-term)
Position Description
You will join the Weekend School team. The combination of fieldwork on Saturdays and office-based work during the week is complementary and enables you to deliver high-quality work while gaining a comprehensive understanding of what a pedagogical and coordination-oriented role in this field entails.
You actively participate in Saturday activities and are closely involved in the team’s day-to-day operations.
What will you do concretely?
- Pedagogical and organisational support: You support the pedagogical coordinators in the organisation and follow-up of activities, including the mobilisation and guidance of volunteers, the expansion of the community, and other organisational tasks.
- Support for young alumni: You build a relationship of trust with young alumni, identify their needs and challenges in the field (during Saturdays), and support them in their role as helpers within the Weekend School.
- Being part of a team: You take part in weekly briefings with the pedagogical coordinators and actively contribute to collective projects and team meetings.
- Facilitation and supervision: You interact with the children and, when necessary and always with guidance, occasionally take on a coordinating role (“conductor”) during activities.
At the end of the internship, you design and facilitate a workshop based on your field observations. This workshop serves as a concrete final outcome of the internship. - Support for the Pedagogical Quality Team (optional): You contribute to the development of pedagogical tools and assist in the selection and documentation of high-quality workshops in support of the pedagogical coordinators.
You take part in projects aimed at ensuring, monitoring, and continuously improving the pedagogical quality of our activities. - Transversal support (optional): Depending on ongoing projects and current organisational needs, you may join project teams or carry out specific missions that help ensure or enhance the quality of our activities.
Your profile
- You are currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant field of study
(e.g. education, orthopedagogy, social or cultural work, applied psychology, etc.). - You enjoy working with young people aged 10 to 14 and are able to create an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect.
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in French or Dutch and a good working knowledge of English.
- You are able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- You have strong interpersonal skills and can engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- You are motivated, detail-oriented, and take a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- You have a strong interest in social issues and are eager to make a meaningful societal impact.
- Ideally, you are available for 3 to 5 internship days per week. You are available as much as possible on Saturdays, as well as on Tuesdays and Fridays.
